Dato’ Ir. Devan Iyavoo DSDK has over 30 years of experience in engineering, business, and entrepreneurship across Malaysia, Asia, and the Middle East.
A registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, he began his career in leading firms before moving into business development, investment appraisal and risk analysis.
His achievements span property investments, international trade, public health infrastructure and telecommunications.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) from the University of Malaya, an MSc in Management and Finance from Universiti Utara Malaysia and an LL.B from the University of London. In 2022, he was conferred the Darjah Dato’ Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK) by KDYMM Tuanku Sultan Kedah.
In 1998, Dato’ George established Messrs George Varughese & Co (later rebranded as Messrs George Varughese in 2009). He had, in 1998, also obtained his Masters in Law (LLM) from the University of Malaya, and later became a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators, a certified Sports Arbitrator (C.I.Arb), an accredited Construction Industry Adjudicator with the Asian International Arbitration Centre and a certified Mediator (C.I.Arb).
Years of dedication to the profession and to the Bar Council saw Dato’ George rise to helm the Malaysian Bar as President from 2017 until 2019.
In November 2019, Dato’ George was appointed as a Judicial Commissioner of the High Court of Malaya, in which office he served at the High Court of Malaya in Penang until 2021.
Thereafter, in 2022, Dato’ George returned to practice as a Consultant with Messrs George Varughese, where his vision continues to lend veracity and professionalism to the work of the firm’s most experienced and budding practitioners alike.
Aida Othman graduated with an LLB (Hons) from the University of Kent, UK, and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1999.
She has had extensive experience in the banking and financial sectors having worked at MBF Finance Berhad, AMBank Berhad, and Public Bank Berhad, specialising in regulatory issues, corporate law, guarantees and contract law. She is also very familiar with Bank Negara Malaysia’s regulatory requirements and framework.
Aida oversees the company’s general portfolio. As the CEO, she has led a number of initiatives that has continually strengthened our portfolio and she has contributed significantly to UBB Amanah Berhad’s stability and growth. She has also greatly enhanced the company’s expertise in having effective risk management and providing diversified trust services.
