EPF warns public to avoid problems by naming beneficiary

July 12, 2010

Nominating your beneficiary to your EPF savings is important in preparing for the inevitable. Death is naturally a very distressing event for your family and loved ones but through sensible planning, you can help to mitigate their sufferings and concerns should the fated happen.

To nominate a beneficiary, you simply need to fill up KWSP 4 (AHL) Form and submit the form to the nearest EPF office. You can nominate more than one nominee and state the share each nominee is entitled too.

If you are a Muslim, your nominee only acts as an executor or administrator of your savings. As an executor, he or she will need to distribute your EPF monies according to the Islamic Law or Faraid. It may be confusing but these are things you should find out in order to help your family in advance and in your absence.
